San Diego Self Storage is proud to announce the promotion of Douglas Stirling, who is now serving as Area Manager for nine of the company’s facilities. Originally from Washington, Douglas moved to San Diego in 2002 and joined the Marines. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 2002-2006. During his time with the USMC, Douglas served three deployments. Some of his most gratifying experiences include assisting with humanitarian projects, more specifically rebuilding hospitals in Africa and providing aid after the Sri Lanka tsunami.
Douglas has held many roles within SDSS since joining the team back in 2013. After impressing as a diligent Storage Consultant for Encinitas Self Storage, Douglas spent the next few years as Facility Manager at San Marcos Mini Storage and then Carlsbad Self Storage. As an Area Manager, Douglas is now responsible for supervising and directing the company’s facilities in Central and South San Diego.
Besides the recent promotion, Douglas has experienced two other remarkable accomplishments over the last few weeks. He recently graduated from University of San Diego where he earned his Master of Science in Real Estate. This program focuses largely on commercial real estate development, which is one of Douglas’ main interests. The promotion, along with the newly obtained degree, solidified Douglas’ desires for a career in the self-storage industry. In addition to recently graduating, Douglas and his wife Cristina welcomed their first child, Violet Rose Stirling, into the world last week. We are all so thrilled for Douglas and family and wish them nothing but the best.
