At San Diego Self Storage, we are proud to sponsor Bruno through our partnership with Shelter to Soldier, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization dedicated to training rescue dogs as psychiatric service dogs for veterans.
This month, we're excited to share another Bruno Pupdate and highlight some of the progress he's been making on his journey toward becoming a future service dog.
Bruno Continues Excelling in Training
Bruno has been hard at work mastering task cues both on campus and during public outings. Recently, he has been spending time training in busy environments like Target, where he practices staying focused while working through distractions such as shopping carts, loud refrigerator doors, and increased foot traffic.
The Shelter to Soldier team describes Bruno as a "bowling ball on legs" who loves engaging with people while bringing enthusiasm to everything he does. Despite all the activity around him, Bruno continues building the confidence, consistency, and calm demeanor needed to support a veteran in the future.
Life Outside of Training
When he's not working on his service dog skills, Bruno enjoys some well-deserved fun. His favorite activities include playing two ball, exploring new environments, and taking long walks around Libby Lake.
These everyday experiences are just as important as his formal training, helping him grow comfortable in different situations while continuing to develop into a well-rounded service dog.
Why SDSS Supports Shelter to Soldier
Community involvement has always been an important part of the San Diego Self Storage mission. Through our partnership with Shelter to Soldier, we're honored to help support the training and development of dogs like Bruno who will one day make a life-changing impact on the lives of veterans.
Programs like Shelter to Soldier not only provide highly trained psychiatric service dogs, but also help veterans regain confidence, independence, and connection through the powerful bond between a service dog and their handler.
