Carlsbad Self Storage takes immense pride in supporting organizations that make a positive impact in the community. Recently, we had the privilege to contribute to Fresh Start Surgical Gifts, an outstanding charity dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged children.
Our facility manager met with Michelle Pius and her dedicated team at Fresh Start to understand more deeply the incredible work they undertake. Michelle illuminated the comprehensive services they provide, from application processing to arranging medical assessments and appointments.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this charity is the Fresh Start Clinic at Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Reserved specifically for Fresh Start patients on Saturdays, this clinic hosts over 80 volunteers, ensuring that disadvantaged children receive the medical attention they require. Insurance companies often decline procedures deemed cosmetic, even if they're essential for a child's well-being and confidence. That's where Fresh Start steps in, covering the costs and making sure no child is left without the care they need.
But their commitment doesn't stop at surgeries. Fresh Start also offers speech therapy, especially for children with craniofacial disorders like cleft lip and palate. These services ensure children can regain their speech and communicate effectively.
As mentioned on their website, “Fresh Start Surgical Gifts is a national nonprofit for children that transforms the lives of disadvantaged infants, children, and teens with physical deformities caused by birth, accidents, abuse, or disease through the gift of reconstructive surgery and related healthcare services, at no cost to patients.”
Expanding their impact, Fresh Start has recently established its presence in Austin, Texas, ensuring more patients have easier access to their invaluable services.
