At Carlsbad Self Storage, giving back to the community is at the heart of what we do. This year, our annual charity donation took on a new meaning—not only did we support Labrador Rescuers in their mission to provide safe and loving homes for Labradors in need, but we also had the chance to volunteer with them at the Carlsbad Marathon!
Running for a Cause
The Carlsbad Marathon, originally founded as the San Diego Marathon in 1978, has grown into one of California’s most scenic and beloved races. Offering a full marathon, half marathon, and 5K, this event attracts thousands of runners each year and serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier and part of the San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown series.
With over 7,100 participants running along the stunning Pacific Ocean, this year’s race was filled with energy, determination, and community spirit. Whether participants ran for fun, fitness, or charity, the official race partners—like Labrador Rescuers—were there to provide support.
Our Experience at the Marathon
Carlsbad Self Storage volunteers worked alongside Labrador Rescuers at the marathon’s water station, ensuring runners stayed hydrated and energized. We helped with:
- Filling pitchers of water
- Handing out water cups and energy gels
- Cheering on runners and boosting morale
One of the most inspiring moments was meeting Vicky, a dedicated runner and volunteer who has been supporting this event for the past 10 years! Her passion for both running and rescuing Labs embodies the spirit of community service that we admire.
Why Labrador Rescuers?
Labrador Rescuers has been saving and re-homing Labrador Retrievers for over 20 years, providing medical care and a second chance to over 5,600 dogs. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home Labs in need, ensuring they find loving families who can give them the life they deserve.
