Golden Triangle Self Storage (GTSS) has chosen the Alzheimer’s Association/San Diego Imperial Chapter for their 2019 charitable contribution. After visiting the office, the GTSS staff was a bit surprised to learn that Alzheimer’s disease is the third leading cause of death in San Diego County. 

Greg Gamble, the GTSS Facility Manager, has a friend whose father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The progression from not remembering how to get home to not recognizing his own son or family was difficult to witness for him.
 
The San Diego Chapter of The Alzheimer’s Association is located just a few exits up the 805 freeway from Golden Triangle Self Storage. Greg spoke with Jonie Ewing, Director of Development for the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego/Imperial Chapter. Jonie explained some of the ways which funds are distributed, such as helping research through local institutions such as UCSD and USD. Some of the services they provide include connecting families with caregivers, 24/7 helpline for help and support, TrialMatch - which connects families with cutting edge research, in person group support, and many more vital services.
