In 2020 it became more important than ever to continue honoring our commitment to San Diego Self Storage’s annual Community Giving Project.
Every year each of our 20 facilities is given the chance to make a donation to an organization of their choosing. We are proud to share that in 2020, San Diego Self Storage made monetary donations to over twenty different local charities and causes!
We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight a few very exciting milestones achieved through our annual Giving Project in 2020.
To celebrate San Diego Blood Bank’s (SDBB) 70th Anniversary, San Diego Self Storage matched all gifts dollar-to-dollar up to $70,000 to complete funding for one new bloodmobile! These bloodmobiles are crucial to our communities. One bloodmobile can collect up to 7,000 units of blood per year, impacting up to 21,000 lives! We want to thank the SDBB for allowing us to be a part of their vital mission as they continue to make a positive impact in our community and aid the lives of many.
After much anticipation, Taras, the police service dog sponsored by a gift from San Diego Self Storage, graduated from the K9 academy. These canines patrol all of San Diego’s streets, not just a specific area or division. This means these K9’s are working 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week to ensure the safety of our local neighborhoods. We are so proud to support a program which benefits our police force, communities and families. We wish to thank the San Diego Police Foundation for allowing San Diego Self Storage to be a part of Taras’ journey.
Continuing our 20+ year partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation, the need for relief was expected to reach an all-time high in 2020 in light of the effects of COVID-19. This motivated us even more to secure those donations and bring joy to local children in need. San Diego Self Storage was able to provide five creative solutions for safely donating new, unwrapped toys and books to this wonderful cause while maintaining social distance! This resulted in 5,072 toys collected and $715 in proceeds to the Toys for Tots program. We want to thank the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for allowing us to participate in this wonderful cause and for going the extra mile to make sure COVID-19 did not get in the way of making a difference in our communities.
