Once again this year, San Diego Self Storage will partner with San Diego Food Bank for a food drive in May. This year, there will be two opportunities for our employees, customers and friends to participate. Like last year, you’ll have the chance to bring your canned food and items to your nearest San Diego Self Storage facility. All 17 of our locations will serve as drop-off sites. What’s new this year is the virtual grocery store! San Diego Food Bank will have a designated San Diego Self Storage website where you can buy canned food in a virtual grocery store and pay online. Our goal this year is to collect canned goods (both in-house and virtually) that equal $15,000.

Hunger is a problem that many of us do not see, yet it affects people all around us. Of San Diego County’s 3.1 million residents, 467,054 people live in poverty – that’s 14.7% of the population of San Diego County. Of this number, 136,124 are children. These individuals face “food insecurity” which means that little to no food is available at home, and often they will not know how they will get their next meal.

We are eager to partner with the San Diego Food Bank again this year, and look forward to your help in support of this worthy cause. We will send more information closer to the launch of the food drive. We wanted to give you plenty of notice so that we can all work together to make a meaningful contribution in 2017.
