At San Diego Self Storage, community support is a cornerstone of who we are. Every July, our facilities across San Diego County and Riverside County come together to host our Annual Food Drive benefiting the San Diego Food Bank, North County Food Bank, and Western Eagle Foundation.

This year’s Summer of Giving Food Drive was one of our most successful yet, combining creativity, generosity, and friendly competition among our facilities to see who could collect the most donations and decorate their site with the most summer spirit.

The Impact of Our Food Drive

Thanks to the hard work of our teams and the generosity of our tenants and communities, we donated 5,985 pounds of food, providing 4,988 meals to families in need through the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank.

With the San Diego Food Bank and its North County Food Bank chapter providing food assistance to over 400,000 children, families, active-duty military, and seniors every month, this food drive played an important role in helping to bridge the gap between limited income and putting food on the table.

Friendly Competition: Summer of Giving Themes

Of course, our food drive wouldn’t be complete without some fun competition. Our facilities turned their creativity up a notch this year, bringing the Summer of Giving theme to life with colorful décor:

• National 54 Self Storage took the crown for best décor with their tiki-themed paradise.
   

• Silverhawk Self Storage earned second place with their imaginative SpongeBob SquarePants setup.
   

• Otay Mesa Self Storage impressed with a vibrant Lilo & Stitch display that captured the spirit of summer.

Why We Give Back

Community support has always been central to SDSS. Through campaigns like the Summer of Giving Food Drive, we have the chance to go beyond storage and create meaningful change. From supporting local families through the San Diego Food Bank to our work with cancer research, youth programs, and local charities, giving back is part of our responsibility as a locally owned and operated company.
