Giving Tuesday is a special reminder of the impact a community can make when everyone comes together. At San Diego Self Storage, giving back isn’t just a seasonal effort. It has become part of who we are and how we operate across all 18 of our facilities in San Diego County, Temecula and Murrieta.
This year, our teams continued to support local nonprofits through charitable donations, volunteerism and community partnerships that directly help children, families, veterans and individuals in need. Here are some of the highlights from 2025.
Supporting Food Security with the San Diego Food Bank
Our annual Summer of Giving Food Drive with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank brought in thousands of pounds of food across our facilities. This effort helps provide meals for children, seniors and military families facing food insecurity in San Diego.
Every storage location participated, competing in friendly contests for best decor and most contributions, all while helping support one of the largest hunger-relief organizations in Southern California.
Raising Funds for Curebound San Diego
This year, SDSS formed a team for the Curebound Cancer Challenge, participating in the 10K, 5K and 25-mile bike ride.
Through employee fundraising and our June move-in match program, SDSS raised $25,000 to support cancer research in San Diego. We’re proud of our team for showing up with passion, energy and commitment to a cause that impacts so many families.
Helping a Veteran Connect with a Service Companion Through Shelter to Soldier
Our partnership with Shelter to Soldier continues to make a meaningful impact.
This organization rescues shelter dogs and trains them to become psychiatric service dogs for veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress, TBI and other service-related challenges.
Our donation brings a veteran one step closer to matching with a trained companion, offering support that truly changes lives. The SDSS management team also visited the Shelter to Soldier training facility to see firsthand how these dogs are prepared for their future homes.
Supporting Lifesaving Efforts with the San Diego Blood Bank
Each year, San Diego Self Storage proudly partners with the San Diego Blood Bank, one of the region’s most essential nonprofit organizations. Our team recently volunteered at the Summer Blood Drive at Petco Park, where more than 570 pints of blood were collected. These donations directly support hospitals and emergency services across San Diego County, helping save the lives of trauma patients, cancer patients and premature infants.
During the event, the SDSS team toured the San Diego Blood Bank’s newly upgraded bloodmobile, which we helped sponsor as part of our ongoing commitment to community wellness.
Bringing Holiday Joy to Local Families Through Toys for Tots
As part of our ongoing commitment to serve families across the region, San Diego Self Storage is proudly hosting our annual Toys for Tots drive in partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. With all 18 SDSS locations participating, our goal is to make giving easy, accessible and impactful for every neighborhood we serve.
The holiday season is about lifting each other up, and this campaign has become one of our most meaningful traditions. We’re honored to help bring joy to local children while supporting a nationally recognized organization that has helped millions of families since 1947.

Each SDSS facility is encouraged to support charitable causes meaningful to their community. This local-focused giving has allowed our team members to extend support to several impactful organizations, including:
