One of those incredible pups, who we sponsor, is Bruno, and we are excited to share a spring update on his journey from rescue dog to future service companion.
Bruno’s Training Progress
Bruno has been working hard polishing his task cues and continuing his public access training in off-site environments. These outings, like visiting stores and other busy public spaces, are a critical part of his development. They help Bruno build confidence, consistency, and calm focus in real-world situations he will one day navigate alongside a veteran.
Each training milestone brings Bruno one step closer to fulfilling his purpose. Watching him grow more comfortable, attentive, and responsive in new environments is a powerful reminder of how intentional training and patience can transform a shelter dog into a life-changing service animal.
Meeting Veterans, The Next Big Milestone
This spring, Bruno will begin meeting veterans as part of the matching process. This is one of the most meaningful phases of a service dog’s journey, when trainers work to identify the right partner based on lifestyle, needs, and personality. The goal is to create a lasting, supportive bond between dog and veteran that can truly change lives.
