San Diego Self Storage Supports San Diego Food Bank with May 2016 Food Drive

San Diego, CA, April 28, 2016 - In the spirit of giving back to the community, San Diego Self Storage (SDSS) is partnering with the San Diego Food Bank for a food drive this May. All 17 SDSS locations will serve as collection sites and participate in the drive. The food drive will take place May 1st through 31st.

Of San Diego County’s 3.1 million residents, 475,773 people live in poverty – that’s 15.2% of the population of San Diego County. Of this number, 138,334 are children. These individuals face “food insecurity” which means that little to no food is available at home, and often they will not know how they will get their next meal.

The face of hunger in San Diego has changed. Many people associate the Food Bank with those who are homeless, but the majority of the people the Food Bank feeds are low-income individuals and families who have homes but struggle daily to put food on the table. And increasingly in this tough economic climate, middle class families are now seeking help from the Food Bank. Learn more via this San Diego Hunger Fact Sheet.

These startling statics are just a few of the reasons SDSS is hosting the food drive this month. San Diego Self Storage remains committed the people of San Diego as much as possible. On your next grocery run, please pick up a few extra items and bring them to your San Diego Storage facility. Please encourage your colleagues, neighbors, friends and family to participate too. Our 17 locations are spread across San Diego County - please see our location list below. This makes it convenient for everyone to donate.

“We love being part of the San Diego community,” said Managing Partner, J. Terry Aston. “San Diego Self Storage was established in San Diego 43 years ago. We’ve grown, developed and have built a wonderful relationship with America’s Finest City. San Diegans have supported our business, and we want to make sure we are giving back to our local communities, supporting worthwhile causes and organizations which positively impact San Diego. It’s our way of saying ‘Thank You’ to everyone in this city which has supported our business so much.”
